ABOUT
Dr. You Zhao is an acclaimed collaborative pianist, vocal coach, and artistic director. A member of Pi Kappa Lambda, she brings over 15 years of international experience to stages across China, North America, and Europe. Notably, she was one of ten pianists selected globally for the 2023 Carnegie Hall SongStudio led by Renée Fleming.
A fellow of Tanglewood Music Center, Franz Schubert Institute, and SongFest, Zhao appears frequently in masterclasses for legends such as Yo-Yo Ma, Midori, Martin Katz, and Roger Vignoles. A Wigmore Hall International Song Competition Finalist, she has served as Music Director for Nashville Opera’s Mary Ragland Program and Principal Keyboardist for the Burbank Philharmonic and Corona Symphony Orchestra.
In academia, Zhao served as Vocal Coach and Collaborative Pianist at the Bob Cole Conservatory and California State University Northridge, supporting opera, vocal, and string departments. Her mentorship has led students to elite programs at Eastman School of Music and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. A dedicated pedagogue, her younger students consistently achieve ABRSM distinctions and regional competition prizes.
